Greatest Gift ~ by Karrlin Bain

Greatest Gift
By Karrlin Bain ~ August 2012

Once upon a spring filled time
There was just a little girl
Her life was moving forward
Most times in such a whirl

At three ~ off on an adventure
She wandered (four houses) away
Across Stark Street
Over near Tom Field
Guardian angels she met that day

Mr. and Mrs. Tutt lived there
In their sweet little house of white
A retired principal and teacher they were
This little girl knew all was just right

“Mungry” she said
Short for “I’m hungry” he knew
Right then their love for her sealed
You see they’d no children of their own
Through this friendship
Their hearts were well healed

Mrs. Tutt taught her to read
All by the young age of five
With her they shared
Their hearts and their home
Forever impacting her life

Through all the rest of her days this girl
Read her way right through thick and through thin
She loved books, poems, writing and words so much
The rest of life barely fit in

They had given the greatest gift
Imagination, Dreams, and Hope
Wings of Exciting Escape
The most Magical Mind and Scope

I love this. I am a little misty-eyed. Gifted, my dear friend is, for sure.

Thank you June! That means so much to me! It meant a lot when it was Jen, but you know how that is... she KNOWS me. ; ) Mr. and Mrs. Tutt were so wonderful and that is exactly how it happened. <3
