The Measure of Friendship by Karrlin Bain

The Measure of Friendship

                                                by Karrlin Bain

If friendship were a game of chess then we'd both be lovely queens
If friendship were in garden flight we'd be brave sweet honey bees
If friendship were an earring pair then we're wild giant purple hoops
If friendship were ice cream cones then for sure we're triple scoops
If friendship were conversation ours would go on for days
If friendship were routes to destiny we'd travel endless awesome ways
If friendship were walks through the park we'd go just beyond two miles
If friendship were a mood to be we're all happiness and smiles
If friendship were made of laughter that measure is "nonstop"
If friendship were helpfulness ours overflows beyond the top
If friendship were stiletto heels our pair is super tall
If friendship were a road trip we'd make it to St. Paul
If friendship were a sentence we'd be sentenced friends for life
If friendship were a fairy tale we'd be the helpful mice
If friendship were imagination then beyond colorful ours is
If friendship were entrepreneurial then we're the most successful biz
If friendship were made of jewels we're the sparkly-est
If friendship is great and better then ours maxed out at best
If friendship were a library then ours is all Great Books
If friends shared too much hand lotion we'd get the strangest looks
If friendship lasts forever then ours lasts longer yet
If friendship were the weather ~ sunshine and rainbows are all we get
If friendship were either dense or light then ours would float away
If friendship were just a nanosecond then ours lasts an entire day
If friendship were made of telephones then ours would ring and ring
If friendships were a musical then ours could really sing
If friendship were all coffee dates the schedule is every day
If friendship were a messy home then ours requires ninety maids
If friendship were a boat ride then we'll coast along the shore
If friendship were a thirty lined poem ours always has ten more

The Love and Joy is Kept by Karrlin Bain

The Love and Joy is Kept
                                 by Karrlin Bain

Getting mad at History
Like clearing up old litter
Chase away memory grime
To banish all that's bitter

Think anger on that which is due
Leaving Left the Love for you
Just a Little to Sort Through
To Toss the cobwebs Out

Then View your Life Story Again
The dust Away is Swept
If you have done a Thorough Job
The Love and Joy is Kept

Blessings in Progress ~ by Karrlin Bain

Blessings in Progress
                                      by Karrlin Bain

Blessings in Progress
Be Joyfully Aware
These Moments of Quiet
And Contentment to Share
Watch out for the Best in Life
And it will Guaranteed be Shown
Happiness Doubles
In Bless~struction Zones
Snap Memory Still Frames
Take a few deep Breaths
Reinforce the Trusting
And let God do the Rest
Whisper Simple Prayers of Thanks
And Sprinkle All with Love
Blessings in Progress
Are Gifts from
Above

The Positivies Goal ~ by Karrlin Bain

The Positivies Goal
                        By Karrlin Bain
Inner Positivity
Rises to the top
When you Focus Force
And Fake it
The negativies stop

They simply have no choice
But to run away and flee
And then your day
Just has no say
The only choice is GLEE

HAPPINESS FANTASTIC
JOY GIDDINESS AND GRINS
THE GIGGLES TURN TO LAUGHTER
AND THE POSITIVIES WIN!

SUNSHINE RAINBOWS SPARKLES
Soon overtake your soul
Just look at all the good that comes
With the Positivies Goal!

The Wizard ~ by Karrlin Bain

The Wizard
                          by Karrlin Bain
* * *
Focus on the wizard
To meet and move my dreams
Place him on a pedestal
Investing all my means
He's both powerful and caring
If he is what he seems
 * * *
I focus on him... driven
While missing scenery
Determined... to obsession
That for me he is the key
 * * *
For years he was a promise
Of such possibility
I could not wait to reach him
Couldn't wait to become me
 * * *
But then I got to meet him
Recognize his empty shell
The wizard held no heart for me
He did not wish me well
 * * *
He could have reached a hand out
Instead he waved me off
The cost was his undoing
And I will not remain lost
* * *

Waiting by Karrlin Bain

Waiting
                          by Karrlin Bain
How do we Wait
How can it be
“We will let you know”
Yet don’t you just see
I’ve been waiting Forever
And Ever
Times Three
Just don’t let me know
I don’t want to see
I’d rather just hang out
Or go climb a tree
Don’t bother calling
Don’t reject or accept
I’m all done with caring
My cool is unkept
My phone is getting turned off
My mail all ignored
I’m so beyond interested
I’m actually bored
I’m not thinking about it
Not one little bit
OH here comes a phone call
Maybe that's IT!!!!
* written while waiting *

Thank You School Bus Drivers ~ A Kindness Mission Blog Hop ~ by Karrlin Bain

I am so happy that I get to take part in the Flying Sisters Blog Hop!  (We are "Flying Sisters" because we took Kelly Rae Robert's Flying Lessons together!)  At the end of this post you will be given the link to another wonderful blog post by another creative friend of mine, then at the end of hers will be another link, then at the end of hers.... and so on... until you get all the way back to my blog! We all blog on the same topic... It is a Blog Circle... or a BLOG HOP!

My Kindness Mission:
APPRECIATE OUR LOCAL SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS:

An inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City reads:
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.[1]

The above quote is about mail carriers, but I also think it applies to School Bus Drivers.  The difference is that their cargo is much more precious!

The only thing that stops our bus drivers is the much beloved "snow day" or, as of late, the "polar vortex".  A bus driver has to work hard to get their special driving license.  I am so impressed by anyone that can drive such a large boxy vehicle.  I would be impressed if the vehicle were empty.  Add in 1 to 75 lovely beings and the feat becomes simply amazing!!!

My Kindness Mission is to
APPRECIATE OUR LOCAL SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS by:

1. The "Thank You School Bus Drivers" poem (below) is the cover of a FABULOUS Thank You Book that will be dropped off for the bus drivers to keep in their meeting room.

2. I joined with another teacher to have over 100 local students write thank you letters to bus drivers.  These letters mean an awful lot because they are from grades 6 and 7!!!  The letters include favorite stories about, and appreciations for, their bus drivers. These make up the pages of the book. These student created letters AND poems are simply AMAZING!!

3. CHOCOLATE!! Chocolate will be delivered too! Nothing says thank you like CHOCOLATE treats!

  4.  We can show our appreciation every day by helping school buses out when we see them on the road.  Research universal and local laws in regards to driving near school buses.  Help a driver out by giving them access to the road before you during high traffic times.

I have a special place in my heart for school bus drivers...
Because one of them is my Mom!!!!

Thank You School Bus Drivers
                                        by Karrlin Bain

Thank you school bus drivers
That go the extra mile
Driving safe and caring with
“Good Mornings”
Treats and
Extra smiles

Seating charts and mirror checks
Safely driving kids to school
Bus drivers kind and thoughtful
Gets points for being extra cool

Sometimes they play the radio
Sometimes seat choice is free
The role of bus driver is not simple
This I can easily see
Because sometimes driving my TWO kids
Is hard enough for me

Imagine seventy plus kids
Fog, freezing rain, or snow
They keep our kiddos safe each day
And befriend them as they grow
From tiny tots with GIANT backpacks
To teens refusing coats

So thanks again Bus Drivers
For the many things you do
You are appreciated
For your services so true
