How to have an Amazing Creative Space & Art Studio ~ Creative Spaces from Around the World ~ Artist's Studio Tour!

I am lucky enough to belong to the most AMAZING online community of creative friends!  They have shared THEIR creative spaces and art studios with me so that I could be inspired by them and share them with YOU!  Recently (FINALLY) I scored an entire room of my own in my house to use for my Creative Space.  I can’t wait to set it up.  I have a lot of sorting out to do before I get organized, and then even more organizing to do before I am sorted out!  That is okay because I am excited about the process and the future of it all.  Right now I am MORE excited to share these wonderful artist's AMAZING CREATIVE SPACES with you:

Thank You School Bus Drivers ~ A Kindness Mission Blog Hop ~ by Karrlin Bain

I am so happy that I get to take part in the Flying Sisters Blog Hop!  (We are "Flying Sisters" because we took Kelly Rae Robert's Flying Lessons together!)  At the end of this post you will be given the link to another wonderful blog post by another creative friend of mine, then at the end of hers will be another link, then at the end of hers.... and so on... until you get all the way back to my blog! My Kindness Mission:
  APPRECIATE OUR LOCAL SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS:

An inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City reads:
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.[1]

The above quote is about mail carriers, but I also think it applies to School Bus Drivers.  The difference is that their cargo is much more precious!

          The only thing that stops our bus drivers is the much beloved "snow day" or, as of late, the "polar vortex".  A bus driver has to work hard to get their special driving license.  I am so impressed by anyone that can drive such a large boxy vehicle.  I would be impressed if the vehicle were empty.  Add in 1 to 75 lovely beings and the feat becomes simply amazing!!!

My Kindness Mission is to
  APPRECIATE OUR LOCAL SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS by:

1. The "Thank You School Bus Drivers" poem (below) is the cover of a FABULOUS Thank You Book that will be dropped off for the bus drivers to keep in their meeting room.

2. I joined with another teacher to have over 100 local students write thank you letters to bus drivers.  These letters mean an awful lot because they are from grades 6 and 7!!!  The letters include favorite stories about, and appreciations for, their bus drivers. These make up the pages of the book. These student created letters AND poems are simply AMAZING!!

3. CHOCOLATE!! Chocolate will be delivered too! Nothing says thank you like CHOCOLATE treats!

  4.  We can show our appreciation every day by helping school buses out when we see them on the road.  Research universal and local laws in regards to driving near school buses.  Help a driver out by giving them access to the road before you during high traffic times.

I have a special place in my heart for school bus drivers...
Because one of them is my Mom!!!!

Sometimes seat choice is free
The role of bus driver is not simple
This I can easily see
Because sometimes driving my TWO kids
Is hard enough for me

Imagine seventy plus kids
Fog, freezing rain, or snow
They keep our kiddos safe each day
And befriend them as they grow
From tiny tots with GIANT backpacks
To teens refusing coats

So thanks again Bus Drivers
For the many things you do
You are appreciated
For your services so true

Gratitude for LOVE by Karrlin Bain



I am so happy that I get to take part in the Flying Sisters Blog Hop every month! Did you notice the last word of my Thankfulness poem?  It is LOVE!!!!

Now... about GRATITUDE: I am grateful for the family, friends, and pets that I love. I am grateful for LOVE!!!
(I am also thankful for wonderment, imagination,
and everyday magical moments.)

Recently a WONDERFUL person blessed me with an amazing compliment. She said the only way she could think of to describe it was that I actually create:

A LOVE CLOUD!!!



What an excellent thought... A Love Cloud!  I am so grateful for this beautiful sweet compliment!  The compliment itself and the way it made me feel (happy) is an important gift I have been given that no one can ever take away from me.  It is like Maya says....

— 'I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.'
Maya Angelou 

My friend is the one that brings the "love cloud"  actually! That is probably why she can spot them!!!  : )  What I can learn from this, and what this inspires me to do, is to go forward and make sure that I treat all the people that I meet with 
Gratitude and LOVE.


Speaking of LOVE... 




A BEAUTIFUL family member that I LOVE reminded me TODAY how important it is to LIVE IN THE MOMENT!!!  I am grateful for that advice and plan to follow it!!  I believe living in the moment is ESSENTIAL for 
keeping the LOVE CLOUD afloat!!!

Possibilitarianism and the Power of Possible Thinking by Karrlin Bain

I am so happy that I get to take part in the Flying Sisters Blog Hop on the third Thursday of every month!  At the end of this post you will be given the link to another wonderful blog post by another creative friend of mine, then at the end of hers will be another link, then at the end of hers.... and so on... until you get all the way back to my blog!  We all blog on the same topic...  It is a Blog Circle.  

This month's topic is:  How I'm becoming a Possibilitarian (celebrating our one year of flying!) My approach to this topic is to investigate and define "Possibilitarian" and decide how many ways I am one. Here is what I found....

What a great guy!  Among many other things, he wrote the famous book The Power of Positive Thinking.  He is also the owner of many WONDERFUL quotes found here (on this clicky link - my fave is the one about Christmas!!!). 




Artist Kelly Rae Robert's also celebrates the idea of being a possibilitarian.  On her Possibilitarian page she states: "Because when you step forward as a Possibilitarian — and share the truth about how you created your beautifully messy, magnificently complicated & exquisitely joyful life and career — you give everyone else permission to dream bigger, be braver, and create what they want. And just like that, the impossible simply . . . isn’t."

I am a possibilitarian because...

* I see amazing possibilities in my kids (clicky link) and realize the value of setting some of my own interests aside for now to invest in them. 

* I believe anything is possible if only you believe..... and I can't for the life of me figure out where that quote comes from... some Disney movie, right?  I was looking and found Cinderella singing "A dream is a wish your heart makes."  I love that song.... I think it lines up perfectly with being a possibilitarian.

* I LOVE watching my friends from Flying Lessons (and from life) achieve general awesomeness and even super specific crazy awesome success based on THEIR belief in the possibilities!!!!

* I am storing ideas, art classes, and art supplies away for whenever I get a moment of time.  I believe this "moment of time" may just coincide with my future "empty nest syndrome" that is way in the future (6-8 years)... so then I will cry on my art projects while having a blast instead of just crying in a state of general sadness.

* I write poems that ooze an optimistic rose colored glasses worthy positive attitude.

* I believe in a glittericious colorful creative life.

* My imagination is super vivid.


And last but not least I am a Possibilitarian...        
because I said so!

Karrlin's Word of the year for 2013

"IN"
as in...

(HA!... get it...Karrlin... that's me!!!!)

  
All alone the word "IN" might seem somewhat meaningless.  When the word "IN" is surrounded by lovely, meaningful, positive, purposeful words... "IN" becomes amazing, exciting, positive and fun.  I love "IN" for my word because it is so versatile.  This word makes me responsible because I have to be IN ACTION and bring the other words to join with it to make it 
WONDERFUL!

Similarly... this year I choose to surround myself with energetic, lovely, meaningful, purposeful people, thoughts, and activities!  

When the words surrounding "IN" are positive and well thought out... they can lead to excellence, creativity, peace and FUN.  I need to take this approach with my thoughts this year too.

Also, I can walk with the attitude that I belong where I am... and I am "IN" and it will be so for me.  If I choose to go with the opposite negative side of that... feeling "outside" of things... well forget that!!!  This is the year that I put and end to that ~ and just know I'm "IN!"

This year I choose to approach life with a positive attitude; I will bring the  "I am IN!" attitude along with me wherever I go.

Part of my decision to have this word was this comment that I made in response to joining a word of the year group:

"Drawing a blank for a word that will light
 up my life...  (sing that song) but count me IN!"


This comment made me think to admire the brave girl in me that is willing to say "count me IN!" and then trust myself that I will be able to follow through later.  Saying "I am IN" has made a difference in my life! ~ If I hesitate to "think about it," and give myself too much time to think (a.k.a. worry), that is when the negative thought gremlins would talk me out of whatever it is that I am considering.  Poems, Art Classes, New things!!!  Bring it!

When completing a search of MY COMMENTS by putting in my name "Karrlin" and the word "IN" in my Online Summer Flying Lessons Creative Biz Class fb group... here are my comments that came up to confirm that the word "IN" is a great word for me to have in 2013.... 

When I use the word IN I am typically being active, positive, supportive, AND often times I am also having LOADS OF FUN!

See for yourself.... these are my comments and the portion using "IN" is highlighted in blue...

I just added in this missing statement "I am also blessed enough to belong to artist's communities online and can view art to my heart's content. Thank you artists for making my every day like a walk through the loveliest of galleries!"

Okay I JUST PAID AND SIGNED UP... WHAT IS HAPPENING NEXT... I gave her 3 minutes and I am not in a group yet!!! Just kidding... YAY!!! Thanks for taking me with you ladies!!! EEEeeeeekers I'm excited.

but today at "Thanks~Christmas" at my mom-in-law's house I got Christmas and birthday (Dec.27) money and can put it towards Life Book 2013... so my whispers are turning into an action plan... YAY... I am signing up soon and am in for sure!

oops not yet... when I say "meager scratch and sniff collection" above that is about STICKERS... just in case no one was around doing that at the beginning of the 80s

  • one who is in office or power or on the inside

  • in with, on friendly terms with; familiar or associating with: They are in with all the important people
  • used to indicate goal or purpose
  • informal in it  joining in; taking part
  • in with associated with; friendly with; regarded highly by
